Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy, together with with a funny and clever script, team up with Nike Golf.   This is destined to be an Internet advertising hit.

The one-minute spot above, which marks McIlroy’s first appearance in a Nike Golf spot, has spread far and wide on the social web since hitting YouTube early Monday. In it, the two golfers, Woods the former prodigy playing the role of old dog and McIlroy the current prodigy, square off in a driving-range accuracy contest to the surprise of anyone holding a cup within striking distance.

This ad also signifies McIlroy’s ascent in the advertising world.  His new Nike deal is reportedly worth up to $250 million.

Well Now, the sanitary napkins company has responded with a YouTube video.

The company has created a fantastic response from a fictional CEO who apologized to the poster, Richard Neill, after reading his rant against the company’s deceptive and misleading sanitary napkin commercials.

“We are always grateful for input from our users, but your comment was particularly poignant,” the company wrote in the video’s description. “If Facebook had a ‘love’ button, we’d have clicked it. But it doesn’t. So we’ve made you a video instead.”

As we wait on news as to where Steve Nash will be playing for the next 2-3 years, we came across another great and very Funny in Advertising candidate.  Nash the All Star and 2 time league MVP has selected a new All Star team.  Pushing Liquid Nutrition he is joined by snowboarder Torah Bright, quarterback Matt Ryan, catcher Russell Martin; LPGA star Suzann Pettersen and hockey’s Vincent Lecavalier.

Many athletes shill for products but few do it with the dry humour that Nash posseses.

Here’s another funny in advertising video.  This time it’s Tiger Woods taking on Shaquelle Oneal in a virtual game of golf, sort of.  PGA Tour 13 is the backdrop for this B movie knock off parady.  This is big name, funny stuff and as far as we know, now achilles were injured in the filming of the commercial.

Online Shopping – infographic Sat, 10 Mar 2012 18:24:11 +0000 Thanks to Invesp, we have an interesting infographic that provides analysis of online shopping behavior by consumers.  The company hopes that it will help businesses answer questions about online shopper demographics, the reasons people shop online, various reasons why they don’t and various trends in spending across different sectors of the online shopping world.

The infographic compiles data from two sources: eMarketer and  And, according to the data,  the online commerce market in the United States will reach $279 Billion by 2015 and  Mobile commerce will grow to $28.7 Billion. Another predication, social media commerce sales will reach $30 Billion.

The top reason people don’t buy online is because they can’t physically touch the product.  This will continue to be an obstacle for online vendors to overcome, which we predict will continue to happen as consumers become more comfortable with online commerce.

Want to see that hot chick from Fiat’s Super Bowl commercial? Well, you can in a new video advertisement for the 500 Abarth.  The real star of the show however is Charlie Sheen who makes a humorous appearance after driving the Fiat around his mansion while under house arrest.  In the commercial dubbed “House Arrest” (see below), Sheen, donning a suit and ankle bracelet (which can be spotted as he exits the 500 Abarth), uses the interior of his opulent home as his own personal race track during a raucous party.  Of the appearance of the aforementioned said hot chick, Catrinel Menghia who was in Fiat’s Super Bowl ad, Sheen asks, “What do I get for good behavior?”

Of course, Sheen’s never actually been under house arrest???  but the concept is still funny.

We could not do a post about The Kobe System in Funny In Advertising without adding a post about Steve Nash and call it Really Funny In Advertising.  Granted, The Kobe System ads are funny.  In our opinion though, they don’t come close in the humor department to any of the ads coming from or starring Nash over the last year.

In these two Toyota Prius spots, Steve Nash, NBA player and Canadian is REALLY FUNNY.  They start off as your usual sports ads, with Nash talking about working hard and becoming a better person through determination. But they end with him being, hmmm…. an a^&hole, to an old lady and some kids.

The message in this sexy ad with Adriana Lima from TeleFlora is pretty simple – Give Flowers Get Sex.  Her suggestive and sexy advice to men for Valentine’s Day? Give flowers, get sex in return. The talking-flowers commercials from recent Super Bowls were pretty amusing, but clearly this company is done trying to be clever and will now be a little more direct and just give men a concrete reason for making a romantic gesture. Kia and Teleflora could both owe Lima a giant bouquet of flowers after Sunday.
